A Story of Hope & Freedom
Freedom 4/24’s partner Christine’s House brings freedom and hope!
Situated in Gulu, Uganda, Christine’s House is a place of hope and restoration where victims and survivors of sexual exploitation can learn to breathe again. Recently, Christine’s House has had the chance to step into the life of Prossy and help her find hope.
Prossy, born to a teenage mother and an absentee father, was living with her step-grandparents when she was exploited by a 20-year-old relative. She became pregnant and was rejected and shunned by her family. A local member of the Child Protection Unit brought her to Christine’s House when she was 4 months pregnant.
Due to COVID-19, Christine’s House was required by the government to send the girls back to their homes, but the staff at Christine's House continued to provide support for Prossy as she stayed safely in the village throughout her pregnancy. Christine's House brought her back to the safe home as she neared her due date so they could take her to the hospital—she went into labor and ended up having a healthy baby in the hospital via c-section.
Her mother was not accepting of her because of the pregnancy but Christine’s House talked with her, and as a result, her mother was present for the birth of Prossy’s child! Prossy and her baby returned to Christine’s House for two weeks to heal and continue to receive counseling.
During this time, Prossy gave her life to Christ!
Christine’s House helped her reconcile with her family and settle back in her village with an abundance of baby supplies. She will continue to receive support and communication from Christine’s House to ensure the baby’s proper health and Prossy’s well being.
